Papercut will be hosting it’s very first photography exhibit, curated by your’s truly! (ahem, Kimberly speaking; resident hardcore-punk enthusiast/zine librarian…)
Reid Haithcock, Dan “Future-Breed” Gonyea, Angela Owens, Todd Pollock and Tim O’Connell will all be showing photos they’ve taken at shows in (and around) Massachusetts. Prints might be available as well for anyone interested, with a portion of the proceeds going towards PZL.
Angela Owens has also produced a zine for this event, “Hardcore Paparazzi,” which will be available for $2 this month at Papercut, featuring her own photos as well as some of Dan and Reid’s.
The opening/Zine Release is next Sunday, 3pm-8pm. There will be rootbeer floats and snacks, of course. I’ll also be raffling off a gift certificate to Armageddon, a new punk Record Store in Harvard Square! Zine readings, storytelling and of course our favorite hardcore records will be played throughout the event. This is completely free, and participation is encouraged!
If you can’t make the opening, the show will be up from this week until April 11, and the library is open from 2pm-7pm Saturday, Sunday and Monday. If you want to come on a weekday, drop me a line and I’ll gladly open the library for a group if I’m around. The artists are very proud of what they put up, and it’s the first time most of them have ever shown their photos in this way, so please come out and support them!
–We also have a bunch of hardcore zines which will be on display
throughout the month, all of which can be checked out or simply read at
the library. Everything from current/2000′s to classics ranging back from
the early 1980′s. Local and international. Seriously, these don’t get
looked at nearly enough compared to the other categories, in my opinion,
and I’m adding new stuff every day.
More info, and the ability to RSVP to this event can be found on Facebook
Or you can send us a message and we’ll get back to you shortly after.
Hope to see you soon!
